Day 59: Life’s Little Ironies, Part 2

There ought to be a law, as the old Reader’s Digest column used to be titled.

Really, it’s just not fair to feel crappy like this the day before the long-awaited scope.

Since about noon, I’ve felt chilled and then kind of warm, even though the thermometer swears I don’t have a fever. Also, I’m a little achy, and not so hungry, and have a little bit of a cough. Phooey.

One of my staff members says that if I’m going to be doubly sick, then I should only have to use half of my sick leave. In some weird way that makes sense. And I guess since I’m going to feel totally like crap tomorrow, then there’s nothing wrong with a head start.

Still, I refuse to let anything to jeopardize this scope. And that being the case, I’d just as soon not be sick and scoped simultaneously. Heck, I’ve been looking forward to this scope more I’ve ever looked forward to a scope, and even more than I’ve looked forward to many things that aren’t a scope. I should at least be able to… enjoy the moment? Maybe not.

One thing I do intend to enjoy: the puffed rice cereal and rice milk that I bought to celebrate. At the moment, it’s not sounding too appealing, but perhaps that will change. Or perhaps Mr. Eos will steam up a pot of the real thing for his achy, groggy, grumpy, deprived wifey. Are you reading this, dear?

Next post: post-scope!
